The Chastening of the Lord

The Hebrew epistle is addressed to Christians experiencing difficult times of adversity. They were being persecuted for their faith. They allowed this to shrink their faith. They had “forgotten the exhortation which speaks to [them] as to sons: ‘My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.'” (Hebrews 12:6-7) We need to understand the chastening of the Lord and respond correctly.
